Our founder, Louis attending a similar program in Kenya in 2014
Ten years ago, an informal training program proved this concept in Kenya.
Our founder personally grew up in Uganda and got his start in filmmaking strictly through an informal, hands-on training program in Kenya. With no official academic degrees or certificates, that practical training gave him the technical skills to travel the world, shoot in over 10 countries, and build VideoPro Africa and is recommended by The Kenya Film Commission.
Across Kenya and East Africa, many of today's working film professionals got their start the exact same way. The industry values the speed, portfolio, and work ethic over paper credentials.
West Africa today sits in the absolute sweet spot for creative growth, yet access to structured broadcast-quality training remains low. We are taking this proven hands-on model and rolling it out directly with our debut program in Lomé. This will also help VideoPro to build capacity for our film produtions
The trainings will be conducted by seasoned professionals who are passionate about the industry, bringing years of on-set experience and technical expertise directly to the next generation of African filmmakers.
Launching our film training program in Lome
We are launching our first filming program in Lome, Togo in July this year. Togo is still underserved and open for African entrepreneurs. Our West African regional location and a training center will support our capacity building efforts.
