Chia Seeds From Africa's Best Farms

We partnered with Endashata Farm to produce a video showcasing their sustainable chia farming practices, using drones and a full crew to document interviews and harvesting.

Chia Seeds From Africa's Best Farms

Project Overview

Endashata Farm is a pioneer in sustainable chia seed farming in Kenya, producing high-quality seeds for export without using chemical fertilizers. The farm promotes eco-friendly agricultural practices and supports local livelihoods. Chia seeds are a drought-resistant crop suited for Africa's semi-arid regions, with Kenya being a key player in their cultivation. Our role was to create a professional documentary highlighting Endashata Farm's sustainable practices, from the planting process to harvesting, while showcasing their commitment to eco-conscious farming and their role in Kenya’s agricultural landscape.

Project Scope

The project focused on:

  • Documenting Endashata Farm’s sustainable farming methods.
  • Highlighting the chia seed cultivation and harvesting process.
  • Capturing the farm’s operations through interviews, drone footage, and factory shots.
  • Delivering a high-quality video to showcase their story to potential clients and stakeholders globally.

Approach & Implementation

We adopted a two-phase filming process to comprehensively capture the farm's operations:

  1. Phase 1: Interviews
    • Filming interviews with Endashata Farm’s management and staff to discuss their sustainable farming methods, the benefits of chia cultivation, and their export process.
    • Using professional cameras and audio equipment to ensure clarity and professionalism.
  2. Phase 2: Harvesting and Factory Work
    • Filming the harvesting process in the fields, showcasing workers in action and the eco-friendly nature of the farm's practices.
    • Capturing dynamic drone footage of the expansive fields and operations to provide a cinematic perspective.
    • Filming in the factory to document the cleaning, sorting, and packaging of chia seeds for export.

The entire project spanned 4 months, with a pause between the filming sessions to align with the harvesting timeline. Post-production included video editing, sound design, and integrating subtitles to ensure accessibility for international audiences.

Results & Impact

Chia seeds, a drought-resistant crop, thrive in Kenya's semi-arid regions, offering farmers a sustainable and profitable alternative to water-intensive crops. Endashata Farm has embraced these benefits by implementing eco-conscious practices and avoiding chemical fertilizers, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint while producing high-quality seeds for export. The documentary was crafted to highlight these aspects while illustrating the journey of chia seeds from the fields to the global market, emphasizing Endashata Farm’s commitment to sustainable farming and its contribution to local livelihoods.
